What is Dual-band?

What is Dual-band?
The Dual-band technology makes it possible to transmit wireless signals on two wireless frequencies: the standard 2.4 GHz band and the less crowded 5 GHz band. Both wireless frequencies work on “N” to guarantee speeds up to 300 Mbps in combination with an optimal wireless range.

What is the advantage of Dual-band?
Streaming media on the standard 2.4 GHz frequency could result in unstable wireless performances caused by other demanding applications within the network such as downloading, online gaming or streaming. Furthermore the standard 2.4 wireless frequency is filled with other devices that operate on the same wireless frequency such as cordless phones or microwave ovens which could cause interference within the network. As a result you could experience trouble while streaming your favourite YouTube video or suffer from “Lag” while you play online Counter Strike.

By reserving the less crowded 5 GHz band for time-sensitive applications such as streaming audio and HD-videos, online gaming and VoIP, you can enjoy optimal performance without any audio- and video interference.

What is the advantage of Concurrent Dual-band?
Not all dual-band routers are alike. Most Dual-band routers work on either the 2.4 or 5 GHz frequency. You can select one frequency or the other. But you can only use one at the time.

Concurrent Dual-band routers allow you to simultaneously use the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency. You can work on both bands at the same time - easily double your network capacity. With a Concurrent Dual-band router you can stream videos on the 5 GHz frequency while for example your partner is surfing the web on the 2.4 GHz frequency.

Why is it easy?
In order to provide simple and user-friendly solutions Sitecom’s Concurrent Dual-band routers are equipped with OPS (One Push Set-up). By pressing the OPS button on the Dual-band adapter – which is connected to a PC, Notebook or Media Player – and on the router for 1-5 seconds, you can connect the device to the standard 2.4 GHz frequency. By pressing the OPS button on the router for 5-10 seconds you can easily connect a device to the less crowded 5 GHz band and enjoy the freedom of uninterrupted performances.

To make it even easier, all Sitecom’s Concurrent Dual-band routers are standard fully “out of the box” secured with the latest security standard WPA2.
