General terms and conditions of the ‘10 Year Warranty’

(1) Definitions

The following terms shall be understood to have the following meaning in this warranty:

  • Sitecom refers to Sitecom Europe B.V., the Netherlands.
  • Sitecom product refers to a Sitecom network product, connectivity product, media product and all other products carrying the Sitecom brand name.
  • Warranty period refers to a period of warranty described in the terms and conditions of the vendor, commencing on the date on which the product was originally purchased or supplied as new.
  • Warranty extension period refers to the period in which an extended warranty applies and which begins after the end of the store warranty period offered. The maximum duration of the warranty is 10 years, including the statutory store warrant, and is defined as the ‘10 Year Warranty’.
  • Original purchase date is the date shown on your original proof of purchase. This purchase data shall serve as a check on the validity of your ‘10 Year Warranty’ warranty claim.

(2) General

The ‘10 Year Warranty’ is an extension of your original warranty. Registration and activation of the ‘10 Year Warranty’ must take place within 3 weeks of the purchase date of your Sitecom product. The purchase date is the date shown on the proof of purchase.

(3) Warranty

During the term of the extended warranty, up to a maximum of 10 years after the original purchase date, Sitecom shall, at its own discretion, exchange and replace for the same or what Sitecom considers a comparable product if the originally purchased product is no longer available.

If possible, Sitecom shall offer service parts for defective accessories such as power supply units, cable and other accessories. The warranty for an item that has been repaired or replaced shall be the remaining term of the originally registered ‘10 Year Warranty’. All original items and/or parts that are replaced over the course of the ‘10 Year Warranty’ are the property of Sitecom; the new item or replacement part shall be the full property of the customer. Sitecom makes no promises or guarantees that the Sitecom product shall be without faults or operate flawlessly as regards uncontrollable environmental factors at the customer's premises.

(4) Force majeure

Sitecom shall not be liable for shortcomings in the “10 Year Warranty” caused by shortcomings that are reasonably outside of Sitecom's control.

(5) Data

The customer himself/herself is responsible for backing up or otherwise protecting their own data against loss, corruption or destruction. Sitecom shall not be held responsible for the loss of data, regardless of the cause.

(6) Requirements for claims under the ‘10 Year Warranty’.

Claims under the ‘10 Year Warranty’ must meet the following requirements:

a. The customer should get in touch with the Sitecom Customer Support Center. This can be done free-of-charge via LINK

b. The customer must be able to prove that the product has been registered under the ‘10 Year Warranty’. The customer receives a warranty registration code when registering a product. Without the registration code, a claim under the Sitecom 10 Year Warranty shall not be considered.

c. The customer must provide a clear description of the fault. The Sitecom employee shall determine whether the product is defective and should be considered for exchange under the ‘10 Year Warranty’ on the basis of the information and interaction with the customer. In this capacity, the customer must keep to all reasonable service instructions and follow all of the Sitecom employee's instructions.

(7) ‘10 Year Warranty’ registration exclusions

a. Products resold by a non-registered Sitecom dealer are excluded from the ‘10 Year Warranty’ unless an official proof of purchase can be presented in combination with a registration within 3 weeks. Receipts from private individuals and traders are not considered to be valid proofs of purchase and shall therefore not be accepted as proof of purchase and registration.

b. Claims for products that are registered after the period of 3 weeks after purchase shall be rejected. There is no point in deliberately entering a false date with the intention of making it seem as though the product was already registered. A proof of purchase will be requested by Sitecom in the event of a future warranty claim. Our employees shall reject the claim on the basis of the incorrect purchase date.

c. Products that are not from the Sitecom brand that are supplied with your Sitecom products are not covered by the arrangements of the ‘10 Year Warranty’. For the warranty procedure for third party products, we refer you to the manufacturer. Sitecom accepts no responsibility in any way for the quality, safety and warranties concerning products from third parties. Any registrations of products that were not manufactured under the Sitecom brand name shall be declared invalid in the event of a potential warranty claim relating to these products (see also paragraph (8) 10 year factory warranty claim exclusions, point d.).

(8) ‘10 Year Warranty’ claim exclusions

a. If a proof of purchase cannot be presented, the warranty claim shall be rejected.

b. Products that are not returned in full in accordance with the provisions of the terms and conditions of the warranty shall not be exchanged. The product should be checked for completeness before a warranty claim is submitted. The box, manuals and installation CDs do not have to be returned.

c. Products displaying defects that can be shown in any way to have arisen through incorrect use will be rejected in the event of a warranty claim. This shall include, damage to the case caused, for example, by drops or knocks, opened cases, broken parts, etc.

d. Products that are not from the Sitecom brand that are supplied with your Sitecom products are not covered by the arrangements of the ‘10 Year Warranty’. Mechanical parts of the product that are subject to wear and tear, including hard drives and/or (rechargeable) batteries that are supplied with the product are excluded from the ‘10 Year Warranty’. For the warranty procedure for third party products, we refer you to the manufacturer. Sitecom accepts no responsibility in any way for the quality, safety and warranties concerning products from third parties.

e. If you are resident outside of Europe, Sitecom shall be entitled to invoice the costs for shipping of a replacement item. Free shipping only applies to warranty claims with a delivery address within Europe.

f. If the returned product is no longer available, Sitecom shall replace the product with a technically comparable item. Sitecom retains the right not to take into account the original price paid for the returned product.
